There were so many good shots to pick from in this section.... I decided at the start I'd post only one, so there it is. :-)
I kind of liked having her in the background, though; it reminded me of that film grammar notion in shot/reverse-shot that whoever's shown smaller in the frame is not in the dominant position in the conversation. (There's an excellent example of that in the scene between Clarice and Lecter, where he's in the cage in the center of the room asking her why she ran away from home as a girl).
I wonder how they filmed this scene, btw. Painted backdrops? Shooting parts of it separately and compositing them together?
