Elevator to the Gallows (1958)

Comments:
ooh. I haven't seen this one, but those stairs look inviting and a little bit risque.

do you mind if I ask if there's some theory behind this site? something in particular you wanted to explore, or some criteria for which stairs you use?

There's no theory behind the site; I just wanted a fun, silly, and egoless project to work on related to film somehow. I'm amused by the perversity of its fixed format: image, title, director, no commentary (or if there is, it goes in the comments section).

As for stairs: 4 steps or more, with or without risers or railings, inside or out, any format/mode (spiral, straight, boxed, etc.), any medium (brick, concrete, stone, metal, wood, etc.) preferably (and, again, perversely) without people. One shot per movie, no more, usually of the more striking/unusual staircase.

And of course the film has to be on DVD.

I should maybe post an explanation somewhere.... I didn't do it at the outset because I didn't expect people to have much curiosity about the site. Of course I don't mind that people do, or that they enjoy it....

There is still quite a lot that I haven't gotten to yet, especially in De Palma's work and in Hitchcock's.

Oh, and that's a canny observation; the stairs are a bit risque, or at least the scene after them is.

Now I'm intrigued. I'll have to see this when I get a chance...ah, just added it to the almighty queue!
