Early on I'd decided this film was not any good, but as it progressed it became more and more apparent that the director was not interested in realism, though he'd started the film tipping a cap towards it. By the time you get to the cinematography where dancers are no more than black silhouettes on a solid purple background, and definitely by the time you arrive at the conclusion on a stark and boldly lit stage, it's apparent that the director is after something else entirely.

What that is, I don't know. But I'm willing to accept the film as some sort of wonderfully strange experiment rather than a failed attempt at a believable and conventional plot.
